Dormont, PA – April 8, 2026 – Although you’d never suspect it by looking at him, 87-year old Hubert ‘Hugh’ Cumberdale has quietly built a tech empire. He and two co-founders created gmp-rate-shopper.com in 2025, and have quickly scaled through the first half of 2026.
Gmp-rate-shopper.com is a comparison platform that many of the world’s biggest brands use to help make advertising investment decisions. With hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising budgets potentially at play, the stakes can be huge. But despite operating as a lean crew, they aren’t underdogs. Cumberdale’s team developed a unique approach that has allowed them to compete–and succeed–against established and well-funded agency sales teams with hundreds of employees.
The idea was conceived less than two years ago in a Potomac Avenue coffee shop. What started as a conversation between a retired contractor and two ad agency veterans gained traction even quicker than they anticipated.

Cumberdale credits much of the success to their unique approach to data transparency and product-led tech enablement.
“Two years ago I was a retired carpenter, spending my time building birdhouses made from scrap wood I found around the community,” recalls Cumberdale. “Last night I architected a real-time decisioning engine that has the capability to facilitate up to eight thousand requests per hour. I think that’s pretty remarkable.”
Gmp-rate-shopper gives buyers transparency around pricing for enterprise-level Google platforms like Campaign Manager 360. Pricing for these products is not publicly listed and rates are negotiable, often leaving decision makers in murky water. In a business where advertising investments can reach into seven figures per month, small percentages translate to a lot of money at stake.
Even with their successful start the Gmp-rate-shopper team has no plans of slowing down. They plan for an aggressive Q4, as well as expanding their suite of capabilities in 2027.
