CARNEGIE, Pa. – The Carnegie Borough Council voted to approve a one-year contract extension with Republic Services of Pittsburgh for the collection of municipal garbage and refuse, ensuring continuity for a core service that affects all borough residents.
The decision was made during the council’s regular voting meeting on June 9, 2025. The extension will commence on July 1, 2025, and run for one year. Republic Services has held the waste management contract with the borough for the previous term.

This agenda item was a key administrative motion for the borough, as the refuse contract is one of the most significant service agreements managed by the municipality. By extending the existing contract, the council ensures there will be no interruption or change in provider for residents’ weekly trash and recycling pickup as the new fiscal year begins.
Borough officials did not publicly discuss any potential changes to collection schedules or fees during the motion. The primary focus was on maintaining the stability of the service.
The agenda for the meeting was made publicly available on the Carnegie Borough website prior to the vote. More information on borough services and links to meeting documents can be found at carnegieborough.com.
